The rest of The Talented Mr. Ripley deals with the murderer's cat-and-mouse games with European police, the highly suspicious Marge, and an American detective. Among the unfortunate souls who get caught up in the net of Tom's eventual impersonation of Dickie are Freddie (Philip Seymour Hoffman), a cynical American; Meredith Logue (Cate Blanchett), a rich heiress abroad; and Peter (Jack The talented Mr Ripley is a book which is quite different to all other sorts of books. It is not a real detective book, and it isn’t a romantic or comical book either. There is not a really important part of the book, no significant climax. 2003-04-04 2008-06-17 So in The Talented Mr Ripley – which was made into a movie not that long ago – he’s got this friend who he rather sucks up to called Dickie Greenleaf. When he murders Dickie and takes on his persona, it’s almost as if he becomes more real to himself as a person, because he’s being someone else.

Block 2017-04-03 · I started reading The Talented Mr. Ripley by Patricia Highsmith simply because I didn’t have any other books at hand and it was lying untouched on my sisters bookshelf. It’s a fairly short book at 252 pages and I had absolutely no idea what to expect when I picked it up. So, its major plot point hit me quite unexpectedly.

The Talented Mr. Ripley by Patricia Highsmith Good, but the play adaptation is not at the level of the movie The movie may be better than this Talented Mr. Ripley, at least in theatrical form as I had the chance to hear it. A really great and intellectual psychological thriller! :] This is my review of Wise Blood by Flannery O'Connor.

Twenty-five years ago today, Patricia Highsmith—garrulous author of The Talented Mr. Ripley, Strangers on a Train, and The Price of Salt, among other great works—died at the age of 74. I like to think she’d get a kick out of the fact that Tom Ripley is still consistently listed among the greatest literary characters of all time—and also

On the one hand, Patricia Highsmith paints an alluring picture of overseas travel for her readers. While this novel offers plenty in the way of fast-paced chases and convoluted plot, its setting is vivid and varied, offering readers images of Italian coastal villages and Greek islands.

A fascinating (and often baffling) thriller about assumed identity and naked greed, based on the classic book by Patricia Highsmith. Full Review | Original Score: 4/5

The movie follows the book quite closely in part but the book's plot is far too complex for all the detail to be included in a 139 minute movie. The Talented Mr. Ripley—Patricia Highsmith’s iconic 1955 novel in which a struggling small-time con-man evolves into a full-blown psychopath—is widely considered to be one of the greatest psychological thrillers of all time (its stylish 1999 film adaptation is also a stone cold classic of the genre). Well, I saw the marvellous adaptation of The Talented Mr Ripley soon after it was released back in 1999, but hadn’t read the book until now.
