This course introduces participants to visual/spatial intelligence, one of the nine multiple intelligences described by Howard Gardner. Participants will learn about the characteristics of strong visual/spatial intelligence and activities that can promote this type of intelligence in the classroom.

Most of the day-to-day impressions we make come through our vision, making us heavily reliant on our sight. Visual – spatial intelligence This type of intelligence deals with spatial judgment and the ability to visualize with the mind’s eye. Understanding takes place best when using or creating images, graphics. The information is translated into visual codes, spatial relationships, patterns and properties.

Skolans specialpedagog kan testa de olika områden som den visuella perceptionen består av. Det är visuell uppmärksamhet, visuell helhet, visuell formkonstans, visuell diskrimination, visuell figur-bakgrund, visuellt minne, visuo-motorisk integration och visuell-spatial Visual-spatial (spatial) intelligence (visual thinking and memory, interpreta-tion of maps, orientation in space, navigation). Tasks of visual expression, making mind maps, and activities of visualization motivate learning.
